John Jarrard and Bruce Burch

Our History

John Jarrard left us far too early due to complications from diabetes. And after his passing in 2001, many of John’s closest friends, including Bruce Burch, determined to continue John’s tremendous legacy through this foundation. We strive to honor the contributions and values that the two hit songwriters conveyed through their shared love of life and music. Bruce later passed in 2022, and we continue to deliver on the promise he helped found through concerts, events, and charitable giving. The Jarrard Burch Foundation ensures that the song lives on. We have shared that message with tens of thousands of people through the years. And as a result, we have raised needed funds for many worthy causes while also helping to encourage the next generation of songwriters to follow in John’s and Bruce’s legendary footsteps.

That is why we look forward to entertaining thousands more with our annual concert series – which we have held every year since our very first “Bruce Burch & Friends Honor John Jarrard” concert in 2001. We are thrilled to have grown so much and even more thrilled in knowing that we pass on the generous spirit of Bruce and John with each event.

What We Do

We maintain the legacy of John Jarrard and Bruce Burch by organizing and hosting concert series and events that help fund charitable causes near and dear to John’s and Bruce’s hearts.

Our concert series feature both legends of the music and songwriting industry, as well as up and coming and aspirational artists in an intimate and unique setting. Based in northeast Georgia, we entertain hundreds of fans during each event. We also help to encourage fellow songwriters to pursue their dreams – all while reminding people of the need for support and care for our fellow man.

And our annual anchor concerts – the fall Jarrard Burch Foundation Songwriters Show and summer Lake Show – have become can’t miss events in John’s and Bruce’s hometown. The Songwriters Show has taken place every year since kicking off our cause in 2001 – even going virtual during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. These events also increase the funding our foundation provides to deserving causes in our community.

HOW WE SPREAD THE LOVE

John Jarrard and Bruce Burch understood what organizations such as Good News at Noon, and the Boys and Girls Club of Lanier meant to their hometown. And that is why we work to help fund nonprofits that touched their hearts and the lives of so many others in our community. The proceeds from our events – such as the annual Jarrard Burch Foundation Songwriters Show and The Lake Show – all go to aid select regional nonprofits.

We support organizations that either directly touched John’s and Bruce’s lives or that have become intertwined with our foundation through the generosity of their members – such as Georgia Mountain Food Bank and Sisu Integrated Early Learning – because, as John and Bruce knew, a better life is all about supporting each other.

Despite a lifelong battle with diabetes, John never let the disease dissuade him from his dream of becoming a songwriter. Twenty-five hit songs later, John was still the same humble, caring person with the goal of helping others in need. After working with Bruce to help kickstart his music career, he understood just how partnerships led to success – as did Bruce. And that is what our foundation prides itself on, partnering with fellow nonprofits to produce success.

Bruce’s love of song and the call to nurture others interested in learning the music business led to the creation of the Georgia Music Business Program and The Bruce Burch Experiential Learning Fund at his alma mater, The University of Georgia. Founded after his passing, the program provides scholarship, support, and resources for financially challenged students within the University’s Terry College of Business, and the Jarrard Burch Foundation continues its support of this endeavor.

Message from our Executive Director

I cannot express how grateful I am to be the Executive Director of the Jarrard Burch Foundation going on 14 years. Bruce Burch was one of my best friends from the early 1990s until March 2022 when he lost his lengthy battle with leukemia. I’ve never met someone so passionate about music, songwriting, and a relentless quest to help others. Especially, students who want to pursue music and the music business. John Jarrard was also a wonderful friend and songwriter who battled diabetes his entire adult life but kept an incredible attitude and sense of humor while helping so many. I was fortunate to know John the last three or four years of his life. He made a significant impact on so many songwriters in Nashville.

The amazing Jarrard Burch Foundation Board is dedicated to keeping John Jarrard and Bruce Burch’s names alive and impacting many as we enter our third decade raising money for very worthy causes while producing some of the best singer songwriter shows in the entire country.

Thank you so much for the unbelievable support from so many sponsors, attendees, artists, and friends as we continue to: LIVE THE SONG, LOVE THE MUSIC, & LEAD THE CAUSE!

THE SONG LIVES ON
